George Sutherland-Dunbar, Baron Duffus, in the Peerage of Scotland, and a Baronet of Nova Scotia; b. 6 Jan. 1799, succeeded May 1843
His Lordship's father, Benjamin, sixth Lord,was b. 28 April 1761, succeeded on death of his cousin, James, the 5th and restored Lord, 30 Jan. 1827, and d. May 1843; having m. in 1785, Janet, daughter of George Mackay, Esq. of Bighouse, b. in 1768, d. 15 March 1857, by whom he had issue,
1. William, d. young.
2. Hon. Louisa, d. 10 June 1865; having m. 17 Sept. 1805, Garden Duff, Esq., of Hatton Castle, Aberdeenshire, who d. 18 March 1858.
3. Henrietta, d. 3 Nov. 1820; having m. 20 March 1810, W.-S. Wemyss, Esq.
4. Elizabeth, deceased.
5. George, present and seventh Lord.
6. Hon. Robert, b. 12 April 1801, d. 11 Aug. 1857.The sixth Lord was the only son of the late Sir William Dunbar, of Hempriggs, Bart., and grandson of the Hon. James Sutherland, who assumed the name of Dunbar, 2nd son of James, 2nd Lord Duffus.
Creations. - Baron 1650, which title was forfeited in 1715, and restored in 1826. Bart. 1700.
