Charles Z. Duffus, 48, of 303 Clinton Ave., Cedarhurst, died yesterday of a heart attack.
Born in Innwood, he was a resident of Cedarhurst all his life. He was chief of the Lawrence-Cedarhurst fire depart- ment in 1939 and 1940 and had served as treasurer for the last eight years. A member of the department for 23 years, he served on the Nassau Fire Chief's council. He was also a member of the Holy Name society, St Joachim's Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Margaret Duffus; a son, Captain John Duffus of the army air forces; three brothers, Harry of New York City; Howard, of Innwood; James of Lawrence, and a sister, Mrs. Emma Donald of Innwood.
