Location: | St Desir is a village on the N13 to Caen, 4 kilometres west
of Lisieux. The war cemetery is about one kilometre west of the village and lies on a
secondary road, the D159. |
Historical Information: | Most of the burials date from the end of August 1944, from
the time when the Allies were starting their drive from Normandy to the Seine. There are now a small number of 1914-18 and nearly 600, 1939-45 war casualties commemorated in this site. There were brought into this cemetery 78 burials of the 1939-45 War and 4 of the 1914-18 War from Chartres (St. Cheron) Communal Cemetery. |
