Trainer fined by Tribunal

The First Instance Tribunal, delegates of the Jamaica Racing Commission on Monday, January 26, 2004, conducted an investigation into the positive finding returned by Fiasco on Saturday, November 8, 2003.

(a) Fiasco was disqualified from the fourth race on Saturday, November 8, 2003;

(b) Trainer, Sydney Watson was fined $50,000 to be paid within 30 days;

(c) Groom Arthur Hodge was fined $10,000 to be paid within 30 days;

(d) Found no evidence to implicate owner, Josiah Richards, therefore exonerated him.

Findley suspended by Stewards

The following disciplinary action arises out of inquiries held on Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at the Jamaica Racing Commission.

Apprentice jockey, Andron Findley who rode Wild Zone in the eighth race on Saturday, January 24, 2004 was suspended for two racedays for causing interference to Dr Simran and Grey Star approaching the 800-metre point. Findley's suspension takes effect on Saturday, February 7, 2004.

Change of stables

The following horses have changed stables: Restless Woman has moved from the stables of Randolph Scott and is now being trained by Peter McMaster; Fabulous Cat has moved from the barn of Allan Williams and is now being trained by Michael Beecham; Haddo has moved from under the care of Ivan Smith and is now being trained by Raymond Townsend.

Hot Number has moved from the stables of Richard Todd and is now being trained by Donovan Bruce; Princess Sonia has moved from the stables of Fernando Geddes and is now being trained by David Duffus; and Helpmeout has moved from the stables of Robert Darby Jr and is now being trained by Glenville Morrissey.

First-time runners

Four horses will start their racing careers on tomorrow's 10-race programme at Caymanas Park.

They are: Swift, a five year-old chestnut mare by Seminole Canyon - Nox Lady by Stevpath, trained by Alvin Carnegie in the second race.

La Pie, a three year-old chestnut filly by Slick Trick - La Que Sabe by Two's A Plenty, trained by Percival Hussey; Jamaica Queen, a three year-old chestnut filly by Footloose (USA) - Miss Saigon by Restless Thief, trained by Gary Subratie; Mega Star, a three year-old chestnut filly by Prime Rate Powers - Aesop by French Champagne, trained by Percival Hussey in the fourth race.

Horses claimed

Eleven claims took place on Saturday's 10-race programme at Caymanas Park.

Ruckus was claimed by Wayne DaCosta acting as both owner and trainer for $380,000 from the first race.

Samfie was claimed by Wayne DaCosta acting as both owner and trainer, for $170,000; Mezzaluna was claimed by trainer, Richard Donaldson, for owner, Cayjam, for $150,000; Dubai Express was claimed by Richard Todd acting as both owner and trainer, for $170,000; and Justified Award was claimed by trainer, Bernard Vincent, for owner, Coleen Nelson and Herman Hamilton, for $170,000 from the fifth race.

Rosy Cat was claimed by Wayne DaCosta acting as both owner and trainer, for $140,000; Physics Book was claimed by trainer, Paul Campbell, for owner, Lion Heart, for $140,000 from the seventh race.

Tsunami was claimed by trainer, Victor Williams, for owner S A C, for $260,000; Selena Mystique was claimed by trainer, Richard Donaldson, for owner, Cayjam, for $250,000; Proceedaccordingly was claimed by Barrington Rambally acting as both owner and trainer for $260,000 from the ninth race.

Kyle's Diva was claimed by trainer, Richard Donaldson, for owner, Rising Star, for $140,000 from the final event.
